And hung too high. I like the red judyg is suggesting. Now if Terrace can pick it up in a more red fish, you'll have it solved. Put the photo screen where the table and lamp are and the arc floor lamp where the screen is.

Absolutely I could add more red to the fish...I do custom colors for clients all of the time....but Carrie has to decide what she likes. :)

As for your sofa art, I think for your wall and the fact you want more color, the bigger the better.

You can definitely see the change, just by adding larger art behind the couch. What fun to be able to choose an accent color for your space, as right now, you are playing it SAFE. Lots of black and brown, and I do love those, but another color will pop in the room WITH them. Red or teal would be a fun color to play with in there.

The couch is not centered on that wall now, and I am guessing it is due to the screen. You will need to decide if you get bigger art if you want to keep the couch where it is. With bigger art, you may not want the screen there anymore, as it seems right now your goal was to add height to that wall in the room.

Is the ottoman too big to go with the chair? It just seems to be placed in front of the window or is it for extra seating? I would love to see them together if they fit and maybe take the throw off the back of the couch and drape it over an arm of the chair instead.

yes the ottoman seemed pretty big so we moved it to create more space when you walk. I can move it. Do you think I should move the chair to another location? The Coffee table can also go. It had a glass top (curio type coffee table) and one of the kids sat on it recently and it broke..

I think the chair is great where it is.......nice and cozy there and a view out the window. Do you have a floor lamp and a small table you could put with it? The ottoman will be awesome with the chair.

I would get rid of the coffee table if it is broken. THAT will also free up space to put the ottoman back with the chair.

Just even wondering.......without the coffee table..........what about moving the chair up to the rug.....front legs....and the ottoman, so it is on the rug with the couch? Hard to gage space, so maybe MORE than just the legs on the rug so you can walk behind the chair, too. Would the screen work in THAT corner now or is it ok empty???

Nope.....I think the chair needs to stay in the corner with the ottoman. The coffee table will still work ok in front of the couch while you are waiting for the glass to fix it.

Thanks for that view. Looks like the chair was meant to be all the way back. I do see an outlet, though, so would love to think a lamp was going with it. After you get a table and lamp or a floor lamp with the chair.....don't forget to put the throw here, too.....see if the pic on the wall needs to be lowered. It looks too high right now.

Any chance the rug in this room right now would fit under your dining table and you could find one with PATTERN for this room since the furniture is plain? I think THAT would brighten this room right up. The rug might be dragging it down.

OK.....have to ask if there is a reason you put a throw on the back of the couch? It distracts me for some reason. I love them and this one can STAY, but not across the back. Do you have a dog that sleeps there?

I would do a blue accent or a dark yellow.

Any thing red for the end table? Does the pic behind the chair have red in it? Could you switch those???

I would add pillows that have color or brighten up the room (the burgandy pillows seem dated). Try adding some with some pattern and texture. Also the throw darkens the couch as well. And the picture above the couch is too small and hung too low and seems dawarfed against the couch. I've added some photos below that give you some ideas on (i) pillows you can add that have some color, modern design and texture to them, as well; (ii) art that is in proportion to the couches; and (iii) modern assessories. I would add an accent wall color behind the couch. Remove the bifold and replace with a tall plant and another end table with a lamp. Add a loveseat by the window. You need art that will compliment the wall and pillows that accentuate the colors from the art. The rug should be bigger. Lighting will brighten up the space. Mirrors and glass.

I agree with jrobertson7148 that the red (burgundy) pillows don't work...I've done that in the past and it ended up looking like I'd added a few red pillows to 'brighten' things up but they just drew attention to the room needing a real something...they just don't work in a room that is needing a much bigger imagining. In the photos that jrobertson posted I think something like the pillow closest to the table lamp in the first photo would be much more interesting and brighter. Also agree that any artwork you hang above the sofa needs to be very large or perhaps a grouping of several pieces. (Although, I'd love to see a separate photo of that piece you have hanging there now. I think I love it!) And maybe, if you have the dollars get a different rug...something that not only draws your eye but grounds and balances the space. Again I go back to that pillow in the photo...a rug like that (not saying repeat in pillows and sofa...one or the other). The chair looks a bit lonely where it is. Is there enough room to place it & the ottoman beside the windows angled towards the center of the room & the sofa? Then there would be no traffic issue. The photo screen could be moved to the living/dining corner wall where you have art work now. Another side table & lamp where the photo screen was plus a large green potted plant on the floor between that table and the window. You asked about color to relieve the blahs and have rec'd excellent suggestions for artwork & accent pieces. Very personal decisions but every room should have at least one living plant, in my opinion. Nice to see crown moldings & millwork!

thanks so much for all the help. No clue why the throw is like that on the couch, Just trying to make the room pop a bit. I do like the red accents. But would love to find some patterned pillows (that don't cost a fortune..aka small kids will ruin them). I'm really not good with accent, as you can see there really isn't a whole lotta accents in the room as I hate purchasing things only to regret that they don't work. I also love pictures for my artwork that hangs so maybe I will do a wall gallery on that wall to tie in to the other image?

Area rug bigger and more color 8 x10. Put print panels on window. A black and white chevron print. Get a bigger picture for over sofa hang 5-6" above top of back. 40 x40 would work lots of odors. Add pillows, mix teal, turquoise , and the ones you have. Love paint color. Just need to brighten it up. Boring now. Ad a palm or tree in corner. Ad taller items to coffee table like 3 pots in color. With gray, teal peacock, yellow all work.area rug should be those colors.

Put palm where screen is move screen to opposite corner. Add a bamboo shade in black to window for some texture.

Much taller lamp with a color base and black drum type shade.

If in budget change out coffee table and end table. Go dark and bigger on end table go chest type. 36" square coffee table.

Put chair back in that corner with the ottoman a small table and a floor lamp behind chair.

Sorry it's taken me so long to update. I went to target today to see what I could find. It still needs more but I tried to incorporate the suggestions. Moved the pix up higher, moved the screen and added some color. Still not enough though

HELLO! Fun to see you here again! You had some fun shopping! LOVE the pillows, espcially that lumbar one! Pull the end table over to the edge of the couch, so it can work there for a surface and with the lamp. Want to see the lamp with the pillows, too.
Hmmm.........wondering why you moved the pic higher? Take a look and see how close it is to the ceiling compared to the couch......it really needs to be closer to the couch. A lot closer. 6 inches from the back of it even.

Love red in the room. Have you tried the throw on the chair with the footstool?

I moved the picture because someone commented that it was too low. Thanks for the suggestions! I will move the end table. I also put the throw on the other chair. I feel like it still needs much more!

Oh dear, picture should be 6-8 inches above back of couch. You really have a nice room. It will all come together.
