I didn't install the white square tiles, I don't like small square tiles. Is just my personal preference. I prefer classic mosaic or subway tiles or wood floors. But we don't have budget for remodeling perfectly good floors.

I agree, typically I would never choose a rug before everything else. I happened to already have the rug & I actually like the floor tiles with the rug (Payne's Grey/Dark Blue) against the dark dresser that was built to be used as a wash stand. It even has a pull out rod to hold a hand towel.

The height of your washstand (that is what a dresser like yours is called) may be far too short (even with a vessel sink) to be used as a vanity in your room. Please post a floor plan of your room, noting the location of the door(s) window(s), electrical receptacles, toilet, sink, etc.

May want to look at inspiration pictures for ideas, combinations and accessorizing.

I’d add peel and stick tiles on floor to create a vintage feel (no rug, just use a bath mat when needed). Subway tiles in bathtub area and paint the rest. Blinds on windows.

What is your budget?

I recently remodeled and although my home isn't vintage, I wanted bathrooms which were inspired by vintage 1920's bathrooms. They aren't period recreations but are inspired by Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Art Nouveau and Craftsmen :-)

I have marble basket weave floors and used 3" x 6" subway tiles that aren't authentic Craftsmen but are hand fired and so have a very "craftsmen" feel. Both my master and guest bath have Chinoiserie wallpaper as an homage to both Deco and Hollywood Regency. My master bath has a more elaborate tile design as it also has other tiles forming designs in rose gold. :-).

If I were doing a remodel of a 1910 house, I would probably have done a much more straightforward inspiration from the Craftsmen style bathrooms of that time. If you google you can see some wonderful examples.

Home: 1910 farmhouse in the city, with dark walnut trim all over. Bathroom trim painted white, tested positive for lead.
We've been advised by professionals, safest thing is to paint over, since we have kiddos (one of which has disabilities). Otherwise we'd love original unpainted dark trim in bathroom.

Bathroom: 4.5' wide (just over 5' wide where tub is)
6.5' long
Ceiling 8'

Layout: will stay same - toilet next to sink, next to bathtub.

Floors: 3" porcelain white matte tile.
Will stay unless I find a under $200 option to replace.

Walls: We don't know what to do to work with square floor tiles.
Options that work from the 1900 era are - subway tile, wainscot, beadboard, paint, a combination, or just wallpaper with trim again.

Budget: under $1000

I included photos of inspiration I had & photos of door to bathroom, looking into bathroom from hallway, & view out of bathroom from tub.

The hallway outside bathroom is only 2.7" wide so I can't step back further to get a better picture. Is dusty from me tearing down wallpaper & working on hallway walls. 🌪️
