wiring a new light switch

hello. I recently replaced an electric wall sconce with a new one. The one I replaced had an on /off switch on the fixture, the new one doesn't. I ran another piece of 12/2 and added a switch. works fine but the switch controls several outlets and the kitchen light. obviously this isn't okay. How can I wire the switch to only control the wall sconce? the uncapped wires in the picture are from the wire I added for the switch.
