black and dark brown go wonderfully with light gray and light blue.

Hi harleygirl, Marie here. Below are some photos using blue with a japanese zen scheme - blue is very ethereal, depending upon the blue. How you want to address the blue in your space in bring in lots of natural wood elements - then repeat the blue on the walls somewhere to make sense why its there - either in candles, or toss cushions so its easy to change when you have the time and money to do so.

Thanks to you both! I'll try and make it work. I guess colors you wouldn't normally pick yourself force you to open up and consider other possibilities. I don't like the powder blue and brown, but black looks okay. In most of these pics, the predominate color seems to be white...which makes sense to me and looks good. But then white shows every speck of dirt. Maybe I'll just ignore the walls and decorate the way I would if the walls were a neutral color. It might all fit together in the end. If not, hello painter!

Actually, in my photos the main wall colour is a warm gray - not white - accessories are white and brown and caribbean blue. good luck with you home, but I would not pair blue with black -
