Hello! I just stumbled across this post in doing research before purchasing the PB extendable rods and c-rings. Do you have an update to provide? I'd apprecaite any input you're able to provide. Thanks!

Ugh it's frustrating! PB customer service were zero help. The fix I came up with was to buy another rod which I slid over the thinner of the two sections of the telescoping rod, so that the rings don't pop off (as often) when they slide over the transition between thick and thin. Depending on how wide your window is, you might be able to buy a long enough rod that it doesn't need to extend at all, in which case you'd be fine.

I will say that these rods are so much cheaper than then next best (custom) option I could find that if I had to do it all over again... I don't know but I'd definitely consider them!

I decided not to get them due to my past experience with telescoping rods. I decided to get this rod from Home Depot:

It can be cut to the size that you need, but please note that if it’s over 106” you will need to splice it. So far, my splice is holding up and you cant even see it. I do have an awesome handyman that installed it for me.
For me this turned out to be a great solution. Its as close to custom as I could get without the price of custom. It can traverse my panels both directions. I also am likening that I’m not using rings. I love the look of rings, but the do get dusty. This has such a clean look. I hung this rod all the way to the ceiling for a wall to wall curtain. Just so you know, I’m not a blogger, influencer, this is just my personal experience.

Its been a while since anyone has posted to this string but allow me to weigh in. the PB c-rings are horrible! I purchased these for my PB double curtain rod. I hung a sheer pinch pleat drape on the inner rod using the appropriate size Cring and they continuously fell off the rod, even when the curtains are moved slightly. Do NOT waste your money! I expected higher quality and use given the investment. I decided to tape the opening of the C-ring to keep them on the rod. #potterybarncringsdontwork

Don't buy them! Horrible experience and no way to return or provide feedback. What a waste of money. PB used to be better than this!

My Pottery Barn C-clip curtain rings were also frustrating. I improved their performance by placing 3/8" black rubber screw thread covers on the lower end of each clip. I also placed small rubberband hair ties in black to connect the silver curtain clip to the C-clip rings. I purchased a 100 pack for $1.25 from Dollar Tree.

I also purchased the curtain wands from PB and placed one on each side of my sliding glass doors (each had 96" tall x 100" wide heavy panels).

These three options eliminated my problems with the c-clips. Even if you forego the curtain wands, you should see great improvement with opening and closing your curtains.

Thank you for 3 great suggestions. I ordered rod, c-rings, and heavy velvet drapes for my 120” window. c-rings are a disaster due to weight of drapes. they pop off too often. I will try both the rubber screw head covers and hair bands. PB customer service must know this is an issue based in so many similar negative exoeriences. There is a tape specific for telescoping rods that works great and has helped the rings glide better without popping off as much, EZY Glide Tape.

Glad I saw these comments. Since it is clear Pottery Barn rods and c-rings won’t work, I am considering a traverse rod with faux rings. One company I just found is Curtarra. Anyone have experience using their Rex Custom Traverse Rods?

Are yours the small or large rings? and so they dont fall off now? also are you going across a join in an extension rod ? any porblems gping actoss the bracket with this adjustment? thank you so much!!
