Trip Hazard Question

Have a sidewalk to the house and there is a deck about 30" from the sidewalk running parallel to the sidewalk. I want to extend the deck next to the sidewalk, so it will be running parallel and against the sidewalk.

The problem if I extend the existing deck and keep it level it would be about 1.5" above the sidewalk. I am not sure if that would be a trip hazard. They are different materials and different colors, but at night maybe an issue.

The other option is to make the deck extension ramp down from the existing deck to the sidewalk. Not sure if that would be a bit odd-looking or not. That would be a 1.5" deck ramp over 30". Also impossible to make the deck 100% perfect level with the sidewalk as the sidewalk is built in sections and those sections can vary a bit.
