I like the wallpaper idea. Or maybe some molding. A pretty bench also. Do you have a closet? Do you need one? I think I’d do a taller console with some small benches/ poufs underneath it. Also bigger, taking up more wallspace.

It is such a pain when the people who plan these homes don't put switches in the right place. Mine were the same way and I had them moved over closer to the door. It is so much better for arranging art.

You do want the foyer to introduce you, your style and to hint at what's to follow in adjacent rooms. How do the current pieces you're using relate to those things? I think the glass/sticks in the corner is distracting us from your beautiful chandelier. Is there an African theme in your home that the giraffe is hinting at? It appears that he and the table (plus all your switches and doorbell) are sharing a corner that might usually be behind the front door that you open to come in. I would be very tempted to drywall the library closed with an entrance to it in the little hallway. That way your foyer vignette would be within immediate view when you enter. Have you considered a runner up the stairs? Here's one to please the giraffe.

Great advise to 'pull' things to look together, thank you. I am totally open to re-do entrance area. Giraffe is one of the pieces I had from previous house and apart that is brownish (similar color as floor and stairs) ,there is no African theme. I like canvas pictures/colors here and have similar tones throughout my house but because of switches cannot hang picture above -if I could use 2 canvas instead of wall paper to run it from the ceiling to the floor :) .Also like this framed picture.

How much do you want to spend? I think there are too many openings and "jogs" on the left hand side of your foyer/hall. That's why I would drywall the library closed and use that wall for your foyer pieces. You'd still have room to angle a chair by the stair railing, or put a bench there so you'd have a spot to remove shoes, drop a briefcase, purse or jacket.

If you have weather to consider, I suggest you place a weather-resistant rug in front of the door you use and a larger decorative rug centered in the space. If you don’t need a weather-resistant rug, or only for winter, I would have a mat outside the entry for wiping shoes on and a large decorative rug in the entry hall to welcome your guests. Persian or Oriental-style rugs come in many colors and sizes and add a luxurious look to an entry.
