I certainly would not consider that home "small".; but you will probably need to find the lowest cost of living area (although there might be some in Texas). Are you willing to live in a low cost of living area? There are probably reasons why it is a low cost of living area.

Look in NW Arkansas (near Bentonville). They will pay professionals $10,000 to move there if you have a work from home job). It’s a super cute town and lots of transplants there because it’s near the Wal-Mart headquarters.

@Marie J. your aunts lot/dirt alone would be worth $2.5 million in my area of LA. Prices have gone beyond the 2007 peaks here. Crazy!
