Hi design community! We are putting vinyl plank in our weekend home, but we need help deciding which direction. The floorpan is basically a rectangle shape so you might think to lay them longwise. That would also make sense for the hallway into the bedrooms... BUT! A prominent feature of the main space are the beams across the ceiling going the other direction. Visually, would it make more sense that the floors go the same direction as the beams so they don't compete, or long-way as the house shape would suggest?

Another consideration is that the deck outside can be seen running the long way, so if the floor aligns with the beams, they will be perpendicular to the deck planks. Is that ok? Final thing to think about is that from the loft when you look down, you will definitely see the beams visually on top of the floors so whether they are parallel or perpendicular to each other will really be apparent. And should the floors in the loft (which will be in the same LVP) go the same direction as the main floor?

I also included a photo from the loft so you can see how the beams look from above. Finally, I have a goofy rendering from an app I used to plan the furniture layout as well as visualize the squared off kitchen island, in case that contributes to the thought process for the floors. Just ignore the actual pieces and finish colors... I had limited options to choose from within the app.
