We have top down/bottom up cellular shades in most of our rooms and love them. In the bathroom, they are GENIUS. You can have the light and the view from the top while preserving your privacy on the bottom. I'd highly recommend some type of top down/bottom up shade.

@bpath - The sconces are on a separate switch that the two overhead LED can lights (one is closer to the toilet.) Both of those are on a dimmer. I also have a shower fan/light, and while not on a dimmer, the fan and the fan light are on separate switches. At first I thought I forgot to post the showerhead, but realized that the photos expand quite a bit when you click on them. I like it, though I've only used it once. I have a stand alone shower on the 2nd floor that I mostly use for showering.

@kculbers - thank you! It's kind of a creamy off-white bathroom. I didn't want stark white, and I do like the mix of white on white shades.

@N K - definitely considering the bottom ups! Will you post a photo of yours?

@Carrie B You're welcome! We have them in almost every window in our house, lol! The other feature these have is that they are cordless as well as top down/bottom up - we love that feature, too.

Another option for your your window would be solar shades (otherwise known as designer screen shades—Hunter Douglas). You can have varying degrees of opacity depending on the “fabric” you choose. You might be able to add a privacy shade behind it, which you could pull down in the evening, and raise during the day.

Carrie - your bathroom turned out very nice! I really like all of your art - and that says a lot coming from a dog person!! I can‘t wait to finish my two bathroom renovations. I’m kind of in a “holding pattern” at the moment - my contractor’s wife is pretty sick. I’ve told him to focus on his family and not worry about my bathrooms. The little break is, however, making me re-think some of my selections. Your bathroom looks so clean/simple - yet stylish! The artwork is really the “star” - although I love your countertop. Is it marble or some type of quartz? Very pretty.

What brand faucet did you install for the sink? I need to select a couple ASAP! Thanks!!

I love my countertop, too. It is marble, mystery white, which apparently goes under several names. I love the warmth of the veining. Here's a closeup:

The faucet is American Standard Townsend. I initially planned to use polished nickel, and ordered it, but when it arrived - seeing a distorted reflection of myself in the mirror-like surface wasn't what I wanted - as lovely as it was. I went with brushed nickel.

Very happy that I happened to browse through here to see this, as I remember avidly following your kitchen remodel a few years ago. Hope you're still loving that, and that this excellent bathroom serves you well too.

@C V - the sink is 18 x 13" and was just one of the options that the marble fabricator offered. They offered... something like three different size rectangular or three sizes round sinks and I chose the largest of the rectangular ones. I can't imagine that it's not just a standard/stock item.
