What next with this quilt?

You may recall that Bkay had a vintage Dresden Plate kit she was donating, which she sent it to me. The instructions were for large circles on quilt-as-you-go muslin squares. I thought Grandmother's Fan would update it, and I added the blue quarter circles from my stash. It's hand appliquéd (needle turn) to which I added sashing and corner blocks from the kit fabrics.

Now what? Borders from the black print? It's about 47" square now. I will machine quilt it.

When it's done, who can use a charity quilt?

Making it a GMF block did update it nicely. I think a black border would be nice, or perhaps just a black binding.

Oh, that came out so nice! I like the GM fan layout.

I think I would do a dark narrow inner border and a print outer border, but that's my boring finish to most of my quilts. :) I have two ready to be donated, just need to figure out where. I heard somewhere (probably here) that hospice accepts quilts.

Re: Donations......a new to me place to donate.

A friend recently asked me to donate to Foster Florida Comfort Quilts. Her friend has fostered at least 46 children and also runs a non-profit to encourage and help others who foster. My friend cannot foster but she can make quilts so she started this FFCQ group on Facebook. My friend's name is Abbi Johnson ......she moves around as she's in the military, but she's from Florida and the quilts will be going to kids in Florida. I'm sending tops to Abbi in Maryland for her to finish. I haven't asked her about where to send finished quilts. I think her friend lives in Gainesville.

Your fans are lovely! I like blues and greens together and I agree, a black border will frame the body nicely. Well done!

Project Linus takes fabric, quilt tops, finished quilts, kits, etc. They are probably the largest quilt charity here in the Dallas area. Their goal is to have a hand made blanket or quilt for every child taken into foster care. Most of the time the children leave their home with just the clothes on their back. The charity thinks it's important that the child have something that is just theirs.

That's who I usually donate to. There are numerous other charities that serve foster children with quilts in other cities. They are probably the most vulnerable children in our population.
