Need Candle Sconce suggestions

Okay so I need suggestions for candle sconces to flank this 35”diameter mirror. Going for a transitional look but with a coastal flair. I have a designer who suggested the two sconces( photo included with one on each side of the mirror- but don’t know if I’m fussy with either. Adjoining room look I also provided is the dining room ( close up on sconce suggestions there) picture of the new side tables to replace the white corner shelf and next to the chair

Thanks!!!

Sorry but I'm not seeing any relationship to what the designer is suggesting with your current rocker and sofa. I'm getting more of a contemporary feel and those suggested items are not going in that direction. They kind of lean towards farmhouse rather than coastal or transitional. And there is no visual interest with what is being proposed as it matches your current furniture rather than compliment it. I don't know how much you have committed to but may want to rethink some of this if you are planning to keep the sofa.

What would you do different? Everything is staying in the living room except for the side tables. Dining room I agree I feel like they aren’t all in the same room so to speak

Post photos of the TV wall and the dining room area.

A gallery wall will go up on the blue wall in silver frames to help tie in the mirror and the silver clock on the opposite wall. I have no other space for my “office” so for now it’s in the dining room. In the living room- we bought and love the rug, ottoman art, mirror I had from before and I love it so want to work it. The rocker was a must for my husband the only one he agreed on

Your designer needs to go back to school . The mirror does not work in that space and to add some more stuff to the wall that doesn’t work will not fix that. The art is hung too high the mirror is too small and reflects nothing worth seeing twice . The little white book shelf piece needs to go and find another home for the mirror. I like the rocker , do not think the coffee table works and the DR right now IMO just needs to be the office and accent walls in small space s really don’t work. Deal with the clutter then decide what you need. IMO lamps are whay you need not some sconces that provide no real lighting .

I'm not understanding where all those extra pieces that "designer" showed were suppose to go.

I think we need to look at what you have and see if it makes sense to keep, keep it where it is, move it or replace it before you do anything more as I think you are on the path of spending money and won't be any happier with the outcome.

    Show me the clock.

And tell me if you like that console in the entry/dining area. If not, why?

Here is the plan layout she is proposing

And I am planning on replacing the white cubby shelf i just simply gotten around to it. We are a young family of 4 with a 2.5 and 4yr old- so yes there is clutter and storage was a request I sent to her. I love the mirror and want to incorporate it which was a request.

The floorplan is a L shape townhouse, there is no foyer entry which is difficult- we need storage for shoes( we live in Canada so winter boots for 4 people and a lot of shoes is an issue.

I’m not replacing the dining table or chairs. I was looking to change the console table to a bigger sideboard with closed storage to hide diapers, office stuff, clutter I want to hide.

I’m not fussy on the console table to me it’s a smidge too vintage farmhouse. I know the mirror isn’t a perfect fit for the space- but I love it and wand something to go on each side to help it “fit” on that wall. I could move it to where the wedding frame is across from the blue wall, but this means something needs to go on the wall across from the kitchen.

The existing console: this was a great wine bar before kids-the two upper cubbies were a wine rack and stem wine glass holder. Once we had kids- this didn’t work so we tossed the accessories for the upper cubbies and now i use it to toss my husbands construction lunchbox and kids backpacks. If this could be bigger with closed storage I think that would work. The closet- well we seasonally move jackets for space. We have a plastic 3 droawer dresser for hats mitts and scarves. The current shoe rack can go in there once we have a cabinet in the foyer. The closet serves as coat storage, hats and mits, linen closet with brooms and mop, and since the powder has a pedestal sink- cleaning supplies and extra toilet paper for there as well. So when I spoke with her- I told her storage and multi function for the dining/office was primary. Here is the clock she is proposing for the wall directly across from the blue accent wall

Let me give this some thought. Your mirror just doesn't look like it belongs where you have it. Have you tried it on your DR blue wall or on the wall where the entry console is? I'm kind of jumping ahead of when we should address that but just want to get a feel for where it might work.

Hi no I haven’t tried it on either of those walls. Definitely open to it. Again only concern would be how to balance out the living room cause my husband doesn’t want a second blue accent wall.

Dining table is 64” and was $800 we bought it years ago but still it looks great has extenders..... Im not fussy with the tone of wood but it’s overall a beautiful piece.

My husbands taste is super modern.... mine transitional. I don’t want a “no touch” room, I want it elegant but casual to compliment our life. So..... the stays:

    Couch
    Rug
    Mirror
    Art
    Rocker
    Dining table
    Chairs
    Blue wall
    Navy ottoman

    Needs:
    Storage
    Multi function dining room/office
    Kid friendly
    Structured gallery wall

Kitchen will be updated however trying to create a flow for the spaces. I like what she did for the living room( accessories like rug, art, ottoman, etc).

How can I create that same vibe in the dining room ? And if I move the mirror to the dining room- what could I use to replace the mirror wall?

Do you most often use the door from garage to powder room area? Or do you come out of garage and up the porch to front door? I think she is offering lots of small storage pieces which is going to look cluttered as they are scattered around the space. Any chance the shoe/boot storage can be along the powder room wall in the garage so then they don't even go into the house? The key/mail organizer can then be inside that garage door.

I'm going to focus on storage pertaining to your front entry way to living room wall first. Is there enough walk-way if you put something like this against that wall but instead of one have maybe 2 or 3 ( I leave measurements up to you) side by side. The idea is similar to what the designer was proposing but rather than one have multiple ones. Don't concern yourself with the style of it. We are only focusing on what might work.

We don’t really use the garage access. I see the value, we simply never got into the habit so it’s hard to imagine starting now.

I am fine with something like this, But wouldnt it look bulky and out of place?

Do you feel what the designer proposes is enough storage for you?

Possible too much storage- i like it in theory, but I did suggest we nix the cubby ( against the half wall with the kitchen). I felt despite her reassurance that there’s clearance- I think it’s too much. I did tell her the console was a smidge too farmhouse and the original clock suggestion was too vintage farmhouse for what Went with the space. In my mind I was thinking a buffet sideboard or bookshelf with closed storage at the bottom for that wall, and a shoe cabinet( which I like what she proposed). Here is the shoe cabinet

IMO the mirror and the sconces are not the right accessories for this room. I think the wall decor should add color and should be a different shape than the canvas that is on the wall behind the sectional

    https://www.afw.com/blue-metal-wall-art

The drapes should be hung at the ceiling

The area rug should be turned and centered on the FP

The ceiling light is way too small for the size of the room.

The cocktail ottoman is a bit too dark for the room

Can you show me the wall that you are thinking the buffet/sideboard. And the shoe cabinet would be near the front door?

Here are the only spots for storage.

And thanks Beverly for the suggestions- the ottoman is new and will be keeping but nice idea with the metal wall art!

The mirror would be more useful in the foyer rather than current location.

So are you thinking a sideboard where the old bar is now? The shoe cabinet by the front door and calling it good as far as storage?

IMO you need to start using the garage entry. You are going to make that front entry claustrophobic with those storage ideas. Already that bench encroaches on the door opening.

So this could work- if we put it where our wedding frame currently is, with a sideboard underneath. I also think this tall storage cabinet could work in measurements as well- like Tedbixby suggested. Still leaves the issue of the mirror

Yes I want to replace that bar hutch with something a little bigger and I agree I voiced that concern with the extra storage pieces crowding the space.

Sorry if I keep asking. So those 2 pieces you showing, are you thinking either where the bar is? If so, rather than going taller is there room to go wider? Don't worry about the mirror right now.

I prefer the wider buffet server idea and so does my husband. I don’t have anything particular in mind but I was thinking of replacing the hutch we currently have and getting something similar but wider with doors( current one only has 2 at the bottom).

    The mirror diameter is 35”
