I am assuming you mean 22 inches wide by 4" deep. Or the other way 'round. Whichever, the pot's 4" isn't big enough... either deep enough or wide enough. To get the full plant you want you need depth and width, good soil, and just enought sun... but not too much; and some fertilizer... but not too much.

The amount of sun would depend where you are located. Lyban is presumably in Canada, not California, so I suspect their basil will need every ray of sunshine available. It certainly does here in the U.K. where it would be impossible to give it too much. I grow basil in various sized containers including window boxes. You still get plenty of basil even if the plants aren’t as big as some you might see and I keep them in a glazed porch since it’s never really hot enough outdoors for it to really thrive.

I have a couple of those planters, and I think it will work for your Basil for only two or three plants at most. . And, as Floral said, you will need full sun in Canada.

Thanks again, maybe my soil is the problem. I use potting soil but the results seem very dense almost like it is packed with plain old earth.
