The embroidery is very pretty. It would be a shame to have that go to waste.

Colleen, I’ve wondered that, too! It was a long piece of fabric, long enough to make the back of the tote, too.

Maybe. The embroidery was at one end and she had done a whip stitch over the edges to stop raveling. Maybe she’d planned to do two more squares of embroidery.

The embroidery is very sweet, and you did a great job converting it to a useful item. When my mom died, she left half a dozen crocheted afghans that none of us wanted. We donated them and hoped they would find a good home.

Lois, my mom left a huge stack of granny squares! I assembled them into about a dozen lap robes and gave them to the local nursing home. That’s what mom did with the ones she completed. The nursing home staff was thrilled!

Beautiful hand work. Great idea to make a tote bag. The can't be seen discoloring just adds character like scratches in wood furniture.

There's a product that will whiten the old things like that. You just soak it. I think it's called Restoration. It does wonders.
