Thanks for pointing me in a direction. At first I thought the leaves reminded me of a volunteer Epilobium ciliatum I have in the yard.

Horseweeds are repeatedly asked about here and this may be yet another example

You're welcome. The Epilobium has completely different seeds, in pods, but very cool, they look like ostrich feathers. I'm not familiar at all with what grows in your area. I'm certain it's something in Asteraceae, but could be something else other than the two I mentioned.

if this were in my garden .. i would slip a plastic grocery bag over it. and snip them off and make sure i didnt have 50 billion more in my garden next season ...

if it was out in nature.. its a pretty cool plant ..

but more importantly.. next time ive had a couple adult beverages.. im going to take some time to contemplate exploding plants .. and how i would use then in the garden ... or more importantly.. how i might share them with peeps who think they are my garden buddys .... but really arent .. lol ...
