I have a very narrow depth laundry room and need to replace my Hotpoint stackable w/d. It was the only brand I could get which was narrow depth enough to fit my space (barely). My current set is 24" deep and it's about 2" deeper than ideal. My dryer has died and I've had it repaired so many times, I simply need to replace it (my last two repair guys- who were great - have both left the business, so even repair is troublesome right now).

Every possible set I can find that will fit is on major back order, except my local dealer has 2 sets of Haier, the maker of GE that appear to be identical to the GE units I'd probably buy if I could get them. But I cannot.

It kills me to buy stuff made in China, but it appears to be the only option for this purchase. I cannot get service for Miele in my town, so it's not an option for me.

Any current experience with Haier? I searched the forums and all the posts were pretty old about this brand. Any input or advice?
