I avoid the hassle of cutting giant grasses by burning the dead stems in the late winter.

Easy and fun.

Have a hose nearby, obviously.

I keep my grass tied up all winter for landscape interest. I cut it down with electric hedge trimmers in early spring. You can burn it if it isn't close to a structure or other trees/bushes.
Don't burn your grass, it is too close to the house.

The best thing I've found out to tie them up with is a couple wraps with duct tape.
