join a local garden club.. in time for the usual late spring garden tours.. make new friends... and offer to trade plants for cupcakes or muffins ... that would make me start digging so fast ... your eyes would bleed .. lol ...and then you would be offering me more goodies to stop.. because your trunks is already too full ...

i once had the local womens club ask for a tour ... i had a couple rogue giant green hosta on the patio .. man.. they fell on that like a bunch of vultures.. i have no idea where all the garden knives came from ... lol .. after that.. i said.. you know.. i have a few other things that need thinning.. anyone interested ... well duh .. lol ... i knew they knew what it was all about.. because no one wanted chameleon plant .. lol ...

share your good plants with your friends.. and share you weeds with those who dont deserve such ... lol .. so make new friends ...

and btw... ive been known to knock on doors and simply ask ... and its a 50/50 shot ... they have no clue whats in the yard. and dont care if you take some ... or they know what in the garden.. and know that a couple extra wont be missed in clumps like you show .. and then usually offer other things ... just drop a note in the mailbox.. see what happens .... or if you see them out there.. just say hi ...

Doesn't look like Chocolate Chip to me. That has very dense, congested, dark tinted foliage that has a lot of shine and texture and edge serrations. And it blooms in late spring, although there could be some sparse fall rebloom.

I had my suspicions that this was not Chocolate Chip!!!

And I have chatted up the gardener in the townhouse next door to this plant, and was hoping to run into her to outside again...I think she may have planted it when that townhouse next to her was for sale.

And...

I was in my neighborhood garden club for a couple of years...seemed to be more of a venue to socialize, gossip and drink wine before noon LOL...so I dropped out.

Also my last garden before we moved, was part of a garden tour!

It was as you said- so many willing to share plants!

And I too have been known to knock on doors!

Saw some Tufa stone in a pile of old cement for garbage and knocked on door offering to buy them, but they said they were going to keep them...at least they were not tossed out with old cement chunks.
