I need a help to bring to life / remodel my airbnb master bedroom.

I am wondering if anybody can give me some advise as how to improve this master bedroom. It is my short term rental in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I am just not loving it. Thank you.

You need an accent color to break up the brown. Turquoise?

    Just a few comments.

You need more pillows on the bed and maybe a throw at the bottom of the bed

    with some color.

Remove the 2 wire things above the lamps. Hope this helps.

Take those metal things off the wal repalce the lamps with something more your style that you can take with you when you go. As for pillows IMO any pillows tha need to be removed from a bed to go to bed are too many pillows You have 4 and that is all you need . Maybe choose a different color throw and the pillows on the bench to match that. Better yet get some new bedding that is a style and color you love those things can all move with you.

Great space, love the vaulted ceilings and neutral color palette! I might suggest bringing in some lighter neutrals to brighten the room a bit, either by changing up with a textured white duvet, white/cream pillows or throw on the bench, or even a window treatment like a roman shade or curtain. It might also help to free up some space on the night stands by swapping the lamps with a pair of wall sconces or pendant lights, or even just some slightly more narrow lamps if you're looking for a simpler swap. I would also play around with the idea of a single piece of art, mirror, etc., centered above the bed for a focal point rather than one on either side. Hope this helps or sparks an idea for you!

Waw, thank you so much the great input; first time I posted anything and received such great recommendations!!! I am the owner of this Airbnb, and I would like for this room to stand out, but the same time to be practical. I will remove the wire display right way!!!! Thank you Angel 18432 and Patricia Colwell Consulting - I agree no metal things!

I also agree with lkloes - I need to bring some color into the room it is too beige now - should I paint one wall? And yes, sconces would be very nice.

Soften it up. The angular lamp shades conflict with the curved lines of the headboard, Your bed is a bit country feeling (think whitewashed rail fence) so those Asian decor items and lamps are not working at all.Looks like the closet might be hard to access due to the table. If someone mentioned sconces, I agree. You can hang a wall mounted floating bedside table to clear the floor and door. It won't have to be very big. More softness might include fabric roman shades instead of hard, cold blinds.

I too was about to mention white sheets and towels so they can be bleached.

Though some might not like the smell of bleach, adding just a little should sterilize them

and not leave too much of a odor. Keep us posted.

Once you remove the metal decor pieces, see if you can find a local artist who can paint a horizontal landscape of the area you're in to hang over the bed. Then change out pillows and coverlet to a color pulled from the art. Maybe more modern swivel wall lamps would add function and more light for reading at nighttime. Take another look at Hearth and Home's lamps in the photos they posted upthread.

Remove the two metal flower “sculptures” and hang a piece of horizontal art (mountain scene?) over the bed. Take a color from the painting and use it as an accent color: comforter, accent pillows, and window treatments, and add new lamps tall enough so the renter can read sitting up in bed if desired. The fence at the foot of the bed looks uncomfortable to sit against, so I would add a long back pillow to lean against (or two shorter ones).

Paint the beams dark. Dark wood, white linens, and a bit of another color, says luxury retreat to me. As long as the bathroom harmonizes, and is en suite, it’ll be great! I can’t stand rentals with the bath down the hall though.

Add some more colour and texture. I would change the bed cover and have matching decorative pillows on bed and bench. Replace the blind with a blind or curtain in same material/style as the covers. And remove those things above the lamps.

This bedroom could be anywhere and I assume you provide photos. I’d therefore play up the mountain charm and the best way to make a bedroom feel cozy and luxurious is great bedding.

Suggest a dark color or white paint. I’d also paint the head and footboard white. Add a rustic bench, new lamps, a cute chandelier and nicer blinds.

(Add a tray and Towels on the bench for your photo)

Dear Houzz Community, thank you so much for all the input. I love the decoenthusiaste gorgeous wall, but it seems expensive custom work. A lot to think about, for now - I will add some lovely curtains, different lamps or scones, white bedding, and most importantly, I will remove the metal display and maybe find one horizontal painting.

I would paint the walls a new, fresher, mid tone color. It is great that the bed tone makes contrast, but I think you would find a new shade would feel great. Neutral, or porcelain blues . .

Lovely bathroom; not sure if you were wanting ideas? A lighter shower curtain would brighten it up, especially if lightening bedroom.

What do I want in a short term rental? CLEAN! Paint the walls a light blue or green. Provide a good mattress with a washable cover. Use white sheets, pillow covers, and duvet, a blanket in a color darker than the wall color draped at the foot of the bed, in a weight to match the season. Lighting bright enough so I don’t stub my toes walking around the room. Light blocking drapes that open and close properly. Outlets to plug in electronics. Some art on the walls, simple, to add some color. Did I mention clean?

Most of these posts including mine have said white bedding plus towels and shower curtain. Some go on to changing wall color and even painting the furniture. There was a post above with a lovely room with your beiges and creams plus WHITE bedding. Cream bed complements the white bedding. Take it step by step using suggestions from the above posts. Start with the bedding and new lamps. Add Roman shades which seem better than curtains for those windows. Don’t have to be custom, can order on line or HD as long as size correct. Keep them neutral. Then see how it feels. Next a good sized local type scenes picture or grouping. In the room for guests have bottled water and clean glass by the bedside. A local sights map and booklet of things to do. I happen to like you moose throw, goes with your mountains, but too small for bed so drape over a chair or the bench. None of this takes a lot of time or needs to cost a lot. Over time you can keep improving if needed. Above all a clean room and bath. Your guests will come back and give a good rating.

Also, what is your target market for your STR? For example, my space is a couple’s getaway in the mountains. I don’t host kids or large groups. So I set my space up to appeal to that specifically. However, I do allow pets which is why I got rid of the white sheets when hosting someone with a dog(which is a big draw in my area, people like to bring their dog on hikes, etc) so when I’m hosting someone with a dog I use my dark green sheets. Even if they say they won’t, dogs end up on the bed I’m sure. Since my place is kind of a lodge look, stark white everywhere looks odd. I also provide a towel or 2 just for the dog. The people towels are fluffy white, the dog towels are multi-colored. I also have makeup towels on the counter, which saves the white towels.

You are so lucky, with such a lovely bed/bath space! I know others have said painting walls may not be necessary, but I think new paint really freshens a room. It's not that expensive or time-consuming. You should go for it. Then you can use a pale shade of your accent color, or a much lighter tone of a neutral.

Also,I'm sorry, but I think your TV looks very tiny in that corner. It just seems cheap, more like a "leftover" than something special for the room. If you have a few hundred, I'd get a TV that fits the space.

Good for you for wanting to update/improve the space.

Yes, it may be more than you bargained for, but people on Houzz are the best! so knowledgeable and willing to give their time. I have a friend who has been posting for 2-1/2 years straight, re-doing her entire house room by room. The advice she gets has transformed her home. (Of course, she doesn't do everything people suggest!) We're all hoping you get the final result you really want. And that you'll post pictures so we can see what you've done. :).
