Looking for some help in id'ing a plant.

Hi all, I grow 3 different kinds of Perennial Bachelor's buttons . Centaurea montana , mauve in color , Centaurea dealbata pink in color ( very invasive ) and a second type of pink perennial bachelor's button. I am looking for an id on the latter very well behaved plant . Can anyone help . It looks very similar to Dealbata but definitely isn't . Hope someone is able to id for me .

Hi Heather! A pic would certainly help but I had Centaurea dealbata 'John Coutts'. It is apparently better behaved. If I don't get C. d. deadheaded it seeds about quite a bit.

Hi Floral _ uk and Laurie , ok here are a couple of pics . The first is Dealbata ( like I said very invasive ) crowding out everything in its path .

Now this pic below is the other pink one up close . leaves are virtually identical

but plant habit definitely isn't .

This one remains in a nice tidy clump . Cant share images of flowers as they are not in bloom presently (sorry) but both are same pink color but this plant is a very well behaved version

This is one of the seedlings of the well behaved clump . Its root system is completely different from Dealbata . The Dealbata I have spreads via root (if indeed it is really Dealbata ) this one doesn't This one produces seed . One thing does come to mind about the flower of the one I am trying to id . It has a white center with pink periferal petals

I had no idea there were so many varieties of Perennial Bachelor's button . I think I may have stumbled across what I have here ( I have been searching for a long time ) I think it may be Persian Cornflower

Psephellus dealbatus
- Name also: Whitewash Cornflower
- Latin synonym: Centaurea dealbata
- Family: Daisy Family – Compositae, subfamily Carduoideae

- Growing form: Perennial herb. Subterranean runners.
- Height: 60–100 cm (25–40 in.).
- Flower: Flowers 3–5 cm (1.2–2 in.) wide, single flower-like capitula surrounded by involucral bracts. Capitulum’s ray-florets rose–bluish red, obliquely funnel-shaped, lobed at tip, neuter; disk florets red, tubular. Stamens 5. Gynoecium composed of 2 fused carpels. Involucre spherical, involucral bracts overlap in many rows, with elliptic, yellow-brown appendage. Capitula solitary, terminating stem and branches.

Heather did you check out Centaurea dealbata 'John Coutts'? Has the well behaved one flowered for you?

Hi Laurie while doing some searching ( a lot) last night I tried to find info on your John Coutts to see if that is what I have . According to many many sites , John Coutts is not a Dealbata but a Centaurea Hypoleuca !!!?????https://www.perennials.com/plants/centaurea-hypoleuca-john-coutts.html . This gets more and more convoluted as I go .
