Bed placement? Redoing guest room.

Getting rid of day bed and would like to buy a full or queen bed. Any advice on bed placement? This pic is taken from doorway, only one window. TIA!

Room size? Where is the closet? What will be in the room aside from the bed? If the room is large enough, I'd put the headboard on the wall where you have the landscape art.

Thank you Partim! That’s what I was thinking would make the most sense. The room is about 10x14. The closest is right as you walk in to the left.

I have a similar size guest room with a queen bed on the same wall as recommended above. I ended up moving the bed closer to the window instead of keeping it centered on that wall. I put a three- drawer nightstand on left side of bed between bed and window wall. Then on the right side of the bed, I used a compact desk (writing table) the same height as nightstand instead of nightstand. There is also more room on that side of the bed for unpacking luggage etc. The desk came in handy when I unexpectedly had to start working from home :)

If this is a seldom used guest room, consider a Murphy bed so you can keep the office items that have proved useful ... just in case you need them again. ... and other items that need a place to "live" -- then rethink some tall cabinetry for the wall across from the headboard/landscape art wall to store what you keep in the room to be sure you could lower the day bed as needed.

If a full bed would be sufficient, check your day bed's metal frame and see if it is a free standing one with wood added that is adjustable to a full bed --- as my mothers day bed (similar to this one) was.

Whoa. Are you simply plopping a queen bed in, or do you want to create a welcoming guest space?

What will remain in the room? The book case? Will there be any sort of dresser? Wouldn't you want lamps and a place to set a glass of water? A book, a phone?

"The closet is to the left........" And how large is that closet?

Draw the room, Add the dimensions. Tell us what must remain in the space. Show an inspo picture......of how you would like the room to feel. By that I mean a room YOU would like to spend a night or two sleeping in...................

Thanks for all the advice all. Yes thanks Jan, as mentioned in my post I will be redoing the room. Love the inspiration pics! I’ll be removing the clutter and will put in there 2 night stands with lamps, etc. Ginatay, I like the idea of the night stand with drawers so that guests can store clothe, etc

IMO drawers for storage in a guest room are really not neccessary a nice small dresser in the closet is more than enough think 5 star hotel when doing a guest room . Keep it simple but really nice. I like a coffee maker in a guest roomsince often we find our guests wake early and do not want to disturb the house. I also do not think you need a TV in the space since everyone now seems to have a laptop.I agree that we need a bit of info from you . A queen bed IMO is a must and it seems you have the space . All the other stuff needs to be gone if this is truly meant to be a guest room . There IMO should be no itmes for your use in that space.

The best way to test a quest space is to spend the night in it. Test the temperature! Test the linens, and the mattress on which they lie. A tv ? I can't fall asleep without one. : ) Lamps you can red by. An assortment of sleep pillows, down, and down alternative. Same with bed coverings.

A cooled few bottles of water, tissues, and emergency options. Aspirin, Tylenol, and obvious items that may have been left behind ( phone charger included ) .........keep in mind the ages/genders of your guests and provide accordingly.

Most important words for these spaces? IMMACULATE EVERYTHING.. UNCLUTTERED.

Thanks Jan! Although this room will mostly be used by family (my parents and/or in-laws so I don’t want to make it too comfortable where they don’t want to leave... LOL. Will post the after pics!
