Help! Black spots and dried limbs on Pieris

Can someone help identify what’s wrong with this Pieris Japonica Mountain Fire?

There are leaf spots which from what I read could be a fungus but there are also entire branches that appear to have dried out.


It was planted last summer in zone 5b close to a Spruce and an Amur Maple.

During winter, It was within a chicken wire cage wrapped with burlap.
