We have quartersawn white oak stained with one coat of Golden Honey and 2 coats of poly sealer. Beautiful, warm, inviting color and high cleanability and durability.

First, what style are the cabinets?It you really want your new cabinets to really pop I would use a darker stain on the floor. When you go and pick out your flooring bring a cabinet door with you and put them next to each other. I wouldn't do the floor the same color as the cabinets otherwise it may be too matchy matchy. If you want the cabinets to blend in I would do a lighter stain on the floor.

I prefer a natural colored kitchen floor finished with a 2 part finish like Traffic or Streetshoe

I get the either lighter or darker, but what I am most interested in is what type of wood?
