The lights there now are what I'd call 'Industrial' style. You haven't said what style you want or what the rest of your house is like, but based on the 1933 date, bungalow, and what I see of the stairwell, I'm guessing it has an overall Craftsman vibe. These are images from a google search on oil rubbed bronze craftsman ceiling light. Start there and see if anything suits you.

Right.. the house does not have much else that is industrial in style, I believe these lights were chosen years ago based purely on function. The architecture of the home is classic craftsman bungalow (from the exterior) but the interior is decorated transitional. So, I believe something fitting into the transitional/traditional category would be best. Which leaves a lot of room for interpretation. The chandeliers posted by Gailee are beautiful, but they are too much for this modest space.

Finding the right lights to fit the peak will be tricky, I think. I'm going through something similar... I have been looking for the right wall sconces for my Craftsman bungalow and they need to be hard-wired.
