Should I repot my plumeria?

last modified: 5 years ago

I got a plumeria cutting that had already split from a friend a couple of years ago. I rooted it in a 3-gallon pot. It didn't bloom last year, and is just starting to come back out this year. Two of the branches are splitting again, so I'm hoping for a bloom this year. It probably really needs repotting by now. Would it hurt my chances of getting blooms if I pot it up one size now into a 5-gallon pot?

I can't put it into the ground up here in 9a, because it will freeze.
