Appears to be a lilac. A close up of foliage, taken from the side, not above, would confirm.

Lilac was what the plant identifier app said too. I just didn't know it could look like a tree?

remove 3 feet of grass.. and put down a good mulch ...

and quit spraying it with whatever is put on that perfectly weed free lawn ..

Single trunked lilacs are not entirely uncommon. I had one in my old garden that was a 60 y.o. perfectly formed little tree.

Ha. No poison! I have dog and kids 🙂 Thankfully my wife and to a lesser extent me find the weed popper tool very meditative. My method is cut on highest setting and I slowly intersperse clover in bare and tough spots. My goal is about half and half. The bees like the clover 🙂 Then walk around with weed popper every couple of weeks. Actually have a lot of wild violets growing thruout lawn too. No way poison. If I could get away with it my whole backyard would be wild prairie with paths. Future goals haha. Can't figure out how to get around the grass height restriction. I guess if it is all beds ha.
