backflow preventer installation or Anti-siphon valve installation

Hello,
I have recently moved into my very first house and realized that the anti-siphon valves (total:8) are not installed correctly and are too low to ground (only 1-2inches off the ground). Because of their low clearance, i suspect that these valve wont be effective at preventing the backflow anymore.

I was wondering whether i should

  1. keep the current valves and install the backflow preventer between main line and the irrigation line
  2. or replace these valves with pipe extension to raise the height.

It looks like the cost is comparable between replacing 8 valves vs. installing 1 backflow preventer.

Thank you very much for your advise in advance.
