I have the lemon dish liquid also. I'm not impressed. It doesn't suds very good, doesn't clean good and is hard to rinse.

I like Seventh Generation dish liquid much better.

There's been vendor coupons in our local newspaper inserts for a couple of weeks now. Been leery to try it because of the vinegar base. Not sure what the long term use of vinegar based detergent and fabric softener would have on my washer innards. Also, not sure if this would be safe for granite countertops.

I have been very tempted to try the 'purifying' softener. Though, the results shown in ads has a disclaimer that the items were soaked for 20 minutes in a solution using it.

Not sure I would ever consider the detergent. I could use Tide plus Downy Free at half the dose and add a cup of vinegar instead and have better results. Just take a look at the ingredients. Not impressed.

Has anyone tried either the detergent or softener? I am just now starting to see real reviews where people are not impressed with the detergent, though reviews for the 'purifying softener' seem to still be glowing. I am considering trying it since we moved to a location with even harder water.

Hi doreycrouse- I’d be interested in the detergent actually and will look into it. For what it’s worth, we use vinegar as a softener or added to detergent perhaps once a week (we do about 4 loads/week). Vinegar does help soften clothes and does not leave a smell. We have extremely hard water - such that as soon as I clean a faucet or whatever, it’s completely marked up in a few hours. I actually use a vinegar based all purpose spray by Puracy on my granite. The granite is ugly as sin, butterfly verde, but it seems impervious to anything. If I cared about my granite I don’t think I’d use vinegar. I’m very sensitive to smells and chemicals so I use scent free everything including my laundry detergent. No fabric softener other than occasional vinegar and wool balls in the dryer (they work pretty good).

It's a weird choice to put vinegar IN a detergent. You usually want a heavy duty detergent to be alkaline but putting vinegar in there would make it more acidic.

So after approximately one month of use I actually find the stuff somewhat useful. I largely use it on loads that I do not use fabric softener on. I will say though, on linens, it does make them significantly softer after washing with tide powder. About once a week I will pick a random load to use the purifying softener instead of fabric softener. It does strip away some of the residue but does not soften nearly as well. As far as the "purifying" affect goes, I do not feel like my clothes look any better. For the price though I am going to start using cleaning vinegar instead.

As a side note, I did mix some Downy and cleaning vinegar and a 50/50 mix and used it for a few loads. I found that this has a great compromise between the two and ultimately left the clothes with less of a residue feeling and they smell great.
