Yes, paint it white. I really only like brick on a Georgian colonial, where it really belongs.

And yes, paint the beams black, too.

I agree on the wood beams, being dark like the eves and door. I would not paint the brick. Its a nice contrast to the rest of the house.

White brick, beams natural, everything else looks good , fresh and modern.

Never use regular paint to change the color of brick.

Always use a mineral paint like Romabio.

Consider looking at a stain for the beams so that some of the character of the wood comes through and won't be so dark. Maybe even consider a stain that goes with the house color to lighten it up and enhance the black door and furniture on the porch. Brick is beautiful wouldn't touch it, but lower the shrubbery on each side so the brick isn't so covered up. A charming look you have!

Right now the contrast between the white siding and the dark red brick, and the light wood beams and the dark roof trim, is harsh and unpleasant. But painting everything white with black trim is so incredibly trendy right now, that in 10 years your house will look out of date. I'd do two things: soften the color of the brick with some Romabio product (me! saying that! a hot place is freezing over right now, lol!) and stain the wood a darker color.

Or, paint the siding a nice sagey-green and stain the wood.

Paint/limewash/Romabio the brick white but leave the beams a warm wood.

No way would I paint or limewash that brick, it’s a beautiful color and adds a lot more interest than white brick. Your posts are organic and textured, the natural brick ties in with that perfectly. The brick color really compliments your roof and black accents, and gives a very warm and welcoming feel.

I’d stain the wood a darker color (I wouldn’t paint black).

All that said — we’re just seeing this one section … can you show the entire house and setting?

It's also a little distracting to me. Not a fan of painting brick, but I think Romabio could work nicely in this case. You can always try a section to see. From what I've read here on Houzz you can wash it off within a certain period of time. The door looks brown on my screen. Black would look nice with your roof color.

In my town, the majority of new homes are all white with black accents. I like the look, but my eyes start glazing over. Yours would turn my head in a good way.

The brick has black in it, it really balances everything well.

Seeing more of the house, I'd go for the sagey-green siding and keeping your natural brick color.

Maria, curious why you got a mahogany door and painted it brown??? why not a clear varnish? mahogany is expensive wood. you don't paint over mahogany.

this is a natural varnished mahogany surrounded by a limewash brick. you'd prob have to stain your gable truss more of this shade, but it's beautiful.

I don't like the dark brown door against the brick, the very light wood, and the black/white. Doesn't work.

I love painted brick. Go for it!! Use Romabio paint.

I wouldnt pain the brick, but instead pain the rest of the house a color that better coordinates with brick.

Also, i know this isnt related to your question, but is this tree a maple? If so, its planted a but close to your house, you might want to think about relocating it before it gets too big.

I like the brick and would change the color of the siding. Imo the white is too harsh with the brick.
