Simple white tile is best, IMO. Maybe go with a long format subway tile, like this:

white is simple. and so overdone. sorry Sabrina! I'm just so sick of it being the fallback option.

Ginger, you'll have to post a pic that shows the entire kitchen area, including the floors.

Have no idea what to recommend because you have given any parameters.

    what do you like?

    what don't you like?

are you simple and scared? go with white subway tile.

are you a bit more daring and want something that half the kitchens in america don't have?

I'm kind of digging the Nabi Harlequin....

    Maybe in the Gunmetal color

    Or, in this design

This one w/charoal grout would be stunning.
(I gave you hardware in gold, black nickel, and matte black)

    Tilebar has the Nabi line

    https://www.tilebar.com/nabi-alula-rocky-coast-ceramic-tile.html

this is just a matte/polished black glass chevron tile

what about colors in adjoining rooms? anything you like?

your style? how does it lean?

    Is that black-vein calacatta quartz?

what color hardware are you using?

PS, please switch out those outlets to a brighter white. (or if going w/a colored tile, a gray or black outlet)

Let's just say, Beth, that I'm not a fan of adding too much additional pattern to an already busy countertop with bold veining. Less is more, IMO. and in this case white is a smart choice. Had she not already installed the counters she installed, I'd be all for more interesting and colorful tile! :-)

    We'll have to disagree.

    I don't think it's busy or bold.

there are plenty of countertops like this w/a patterned backsplash.

at the very least she do something besides a white subway tile!

I added a black one above w/hardware suggestions. you think it's too busy? the black Nabi one?

The tile itself is lovely. I just don't like the stark contrast between the counter surface and the black tile. I'd be recommending black or dark charcoal counters to go with that backsplash. :-)

This Harmonia backsplash with Lazy Grey (Sherwin Williams) upper cabinets, quartz white/gray counters with very little and thin veining, bottom cabinets Dark Pewter (Behr) which is a blue/gray and light gray/white travertine style porcelain flooring.

I really like some of the gray tiles Beth suggested.

Thank you everyone for your reseponses. I have a small galley size kitchen 13X8 Countertops are Quartz-Mondria Kumair. Floors are warm grey porcelain tile. I like the bold darker grey color tile but at the same time because my kitchen is small I'm being cautious to keep the space light.

I found this mosaic this at a cabinet outlet???

that one is pretty. just realize it's going to be a little busy looking. but it's not a large space. I think it will be fine. look at pictures of "marble mosaic backsplash" so you can see what those look like.

    What color hardware? nickel?

you'll need a top notch tile installer to install those tiles!

You could try this one. they had a similar countertop like you did. These are Calacatta linear bar sheet mosaic tile. Tilebar.com has them. you can grab some samples over there.

If you want to do a white tile like Sabrina suggested, you could do something like this

If you like a bold look, that does look nice. I prefer simple. i would stay with a white cersmic tile in a shape, other than subway, and use silver grout

You have gray cabinets and floors, I feel that is enough gray..

^^^^ this. Now that the floor is in the pic, I think gray or black tile is waaayy too much. Pick a white or a pattern that is almost all white. I think something with a metallic accent would look great and bring so additional life to the room. Or a geometric, like this:

Yes, will I'll be using nickel hardware (working on picking that as well) :) I'll start searching white tile or almost white tile with metallic accent..I believe that design will work in this space! Thank you for all the great comment!

Ginger. Hi! I’d love to see how your kitchen turned out. I came upon this post while I was looking for “mondria kumair.” I’m considering it for my kitchen (rather wet bar) and bath vanity. My only issue is that my sample and the sLab I saw in person looks quite creamy against my griege cabinets. I’m wishing it was more of a white background. Yours really does look whiter. True? Thanks!
