I would neither brick up the wall nor remove the hearth. A brick wall in a smallish room would overpower the space. You need the hearth to complete the fireplace and put space between people and the fire if you ever use the fireplace. As much as I dislike a tv over a mantel, in this case you need the opposite wall space for some furniture for tv time.

I assume the white on the mantel matches the white crown molding. If I were you, I would simply paint the remainder of the fireplace, to the ceiling, in the same white since all of that functions as trim with the molding. Art, rather than a mirror that doesn't reflect (double) anything beautiful or interesting, would be a better choice. If I were going to make a bigger investment in this room, I'd work on the window treatments. Floor to ceiling and nice and full would be my first choice.

Esp. if windows show a pool outside, I'd leave what you have with whitened fp, now a blend-in feature. Looks nice... Small thing, but dark chair by the fp/ windows is 'heavy', if you want lightened look.

Adding height above plant to ceiling might be a 'busy visual' seen with windows, patio roof....try photoshop? In other words, it seems balanced.

Gosh another is whether for painting you tied one curtain? with more contemporary [?] white fp, they might tie in better. Or would you like those in kitch. or DR?

I like what you have done so far…and would take it one step further by removing all the moulding and trims to simplify the area above the fireplace…keep it looking more architectural than trimmed/detailed…then remove the curtains and paint that wall in an accent color so you see the windows and the view and the light instead…

Remove the plant from the ledge and leave that area as it is. You don't want to highlight anything so high in a narrow room. Keep the focus on the windows. You could lower the hearth to the floor, but the amount of space you would gain is minimal, and you would have to redo the whole fireplace brick area, so it's likely not worth it. Do you have enough space to switch the chair and the low ottomans?

Yes, I tied the curtain because i was painting. The curtains are also going to be taken down.
I Have been thinking about removing the molding altogether for a while, I've just been second guessing myself!

The horse art is super wide, it won't fit in that space.

I don't mind it, sort of repeats rectangle shapes around, for example the windows.

Very nice on the fireplace, and much better placement of your chair and ottomans. Move your small end table to the side of the sofa, or the other side of the chair, so you can walk into the seating area between the chair and sofa.

The tv is 41" from the floor, and it's going to be a pain to move it.

Yeh! Now uniform color, Idk if you want any comments. Not a pro, but ok to see angular shapes: fp and above it ... windows... tv box. So the trim way high doesn't bother me.... anyone care about that ??!! :)

The only thing we might recommend is adding artwork over the fireplace instead of the mirror. Here is a design of ours to help aid with the visual.

I agree that artwork ^^^ would look great there. Make sure it’s a colorful, large enough piece. The room really looks completely different with just paint but it needs a bit of “jewelry” now.
