It Will impact future buyers. Putting it upstairs is risky DIY, you'll need to Leak/Flood Proof the hose, etc. Not worth the risk. I would leave it where it is.

Thanks Lyn, and should've clarified that this will NOT be DIY...way out of my skill level lol! I would definitely add the flood pan and noise reducer too if I do this.

A friend's house has the laundry room on the 2nd floor. I was there once while a load was running. Noise transmission into the living room below sounded like a train rumbling through. Her washer at the time (maybe is still now) was a Whirlpool toploader (I could tell what it was doing by the noises, LOL). I don't know any details on the construction of the house, noise abatement efforts and such.

You don't want the only access to a laundry room to be through a bedroom, but if you have enough room upstairs to turn the attic into a bedroom, you could change the current bedroom into a laundry room and hallway with access to the attic.
