I often like the sensibilities of that design outfit for bedding and for cabinets.

So you are decorating your new space? Your picture is fuzzy on my device. Are those knots in the wood? A drape of string lights as well?

One of my favorite kinds of headboards is to take a rod and then hang big square pillows from the rod, either using leather straps or tabs. Might look really nice with your headboard, and be practical. You could use any kind of box-spring/bed frame with it.

If I can find a picture I will post it.

I don’t know if you can wire the wooden headboard you’ve got for sconces, or use plug in sconces, but could look nice.

I’ve also seen this idea using a standard industrial pipe as the support rod, and the pillows have hollow tabs sewn at the top, so the pipe is threaded through the wide cloth tabs, and teh pillows hang down. And I’ve also seen pillows where the straps are almost like belts on either side of the pillow, so you end up with a backrest-like arrangement, like this, but with much softer puffier bed pillows

Depending on the strength of the headboard that conveyed with the house, you might not need a support rod for the pillows. You could just put wooden pegs or any kind of hook right into the headboard, and hang the pillows from the pegs/hooks.

So if you did something along these lines with the headboard, you’d only need a frame like this (at whatever quality you can find it easy to buy)

Hey there:) Found my way here from your link on the decor thread. Am I correct in understanding you're not a huge fan of this wall-mounted headboard? If you don't have the budget to remove it (are the planks mounted individually?) and redo the wall, just painting the boards the same colour as the wall might help dissimulate it. The alternative is to cover it, as @User suggested. Depending on your DIY skills and imagination, fabric or wallpaper might work. My point is: don't let someone's else taste dictate yours as you create your new home.

Hi, all Houzzers! An update on 1) the wall-mounted headboard: keeping it without the string lights ;) 2) Large square pillows: I will be using the ones I just bought for staging the old house (see old pic); 3) I ordered a mattress foundation by Nectar (easy set-up and take-down/ store), which was in stock, and to be delivered in 3 days. So now I am looking for

1) a rod and adjustable bracket to set on the header (to go vertically -up/down-) any recommendations? and

2) an alternative for this wall sconce in black, that can be connected to regular switches (located about 1' up from the floor on each side of the board). TY!

PS: 3) AND the nightstands... or is there a way I can pass my existing ones as vintage? 😉 Upcycle ideas anyone?

-W wall- The current window coverings are white mini-blinds and a 2-panel sheer curtain, and the wall paint is a very light gray with blue undertones. -E wall- I think I will bring my Caribbean framed posters and postcards to this room, and placed them on the E wall (I will remove the small shelf in the hallway). Any ideas for the gallery wall layout?

@bluemarble Hi there; good to have you in the loop again ;) Updates: Last week I got the foundation, and today I received the "mantis" lamps! As for the art, I haven't hung anything yet, but I will use masking tape where I think they can go. Tomorrow, I will post some pics and hope to hear from you again.

The lamps are so cool, and I can’t wait to see them in place.

@bluemarble I liked the sconce design in the photo. Just got one out of the box and found (1) the swivel arm is very long: I would need to mount it on the wall (not on the wood headboard as intended) to avoid overlapping... but I will end with visible (hanging) cords. (2) the swivel arm goes side-to-side, but not up-and-down: so I would have to mount it higher over the bed.

I still like the style but I will think it over. And I haven't found my masking tape to mark the spots for the paintings, I am on a treasure hunt over all my boxes ;) pictures are due soon ... getting there. Cheers!

Awww…love your vintage table. Brings back memories. Can we see the pillows next to your art? You said the curtains are gray with a blue undertone. On my screen, they look lavender. Is that accurate?

As to the lamps, I would consider them in proportion to the room. If you think they feel too big, then they probably are haha. We can find something a little more low profile if you’d like.

The side tables were a hand-me-down from a beloved aunt, so I could not leave them behind when we moved; though I thought about it ;) I found these wall lamps, that bothswing and adjust. The curtains are gray/blue and beige/white sheer, muted ... and sad. I want to replace them, any ideas? Here are the pillows and curtains as requested:

That spotlight lamp is cool and has a dimmer which is nice. Of those pillows, I like the blue and white grid patterned one with your art. The Kravitz pillow seems to work with the curtains (in the recent photo) and the headboard. The third pillow works if you want to add more gold to complement the headboard.

I need a little clarification...your recent photo of the curtains looks different than a previous one. Is this the same fabric?

How do you feel about stonewashed linen curtains? There are a number of sellers on etsy including this shop, I believe. They also make bedding.

Curtain clarification: Yes it is the same one. The 1st pic is against the window, so the daylight comes through. For the 2nd pic, I placed it flat over the desk, and with a pillowcase underneath to show its true colors. Actually, if you zoom in on the top of the 2nd pic, then you can see both the sheer and the muted effects ;)

Poster placement: Here is my attempt at placing the posters to cheer the E+N walls:

I see it! The sheer then “lined” curtain. I like the picture placement. Did you decide to hang the tv in there after all? At least I thought you said you weren’t. Are you considering new blinds fir the window? Cellular, solar, bamboo. I’m assuming nothing too formal with the plank headboard.

@bluemarble No, no TV in the bedroom; I will remove the TV metal brackets shortly ⌛ ... I realized it's been 1-month since we have moved in. And I thought I would have removed all TV brackets (5) from the walls by now, but no. I did not find the masking tape either and failed to buy it every time I got to the store. That explains the crumple packing paper that I used instead 😂.

Love the art! I almost suggested putting the three smaller ones on the right, but thought I was being biased because that’s the way they’re typically placed in that type of grouping. I do like it that way, so nice job!

Photo#2: I decided against the headboard cushions because I am getting an adjustable bed frame. Here are the lamps installed. I really like their practicality, and I am pleased with their look too :0:

I decided against buying the attached "headboard cushions" like the one below. Instead, I am using the reliable "throw pillows". In fact, I am loving those and moving them from room to room as need be.
