That needs to be redone. Its a big tripping hazard and could be dangerous.

You talk to the installer instead of asking here what you should do.

File it off before your shoes do it please.

Vinyl on stairs is never a good choce to begin with. But that is what happens when you use vinyl bullnose caps with vinyl planks. Worst of all possible systems. Solid wood treads are always the best choice.

Anyone contemplating wanting to put vinyl on stairs needs to carefully look at the system offered by the different companies when you're choosing the flooring.

I plan on putting down vinyl plank. My stairs have solid oak treads (under carpet). I plan to finish the wood and live with the mismatch. No way am I going to start hacking the nosing off of solid oak treads and replace with vinyl. Probably will end up using a carpet runner if the difference is too stark. Because I know solid oak is going to outlive vinyl by several factors.

I have no experience with this type of product but would go into it by not being optimistic about medium term durability. Also on the pricey side. $53 ea x 13 = @ $700 for a typical flight of stairs plus install cost. Or about the same cost as real hardwood stair treads...
