I'd love to if they sold anything except Crimson Queen Japanese maples, Patriot hostas, and Emerald Green arborvitae. My Lowe's has a better selection.

Here in MD, we have Patuxent Nursery. It has beautifully maintained plants and a great variety. They are well-staffed and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I usually grab plants at Lowes or Home Depot because my planning and planting can be hit or miss. But I know when I buy from Patuxent Nursery, I'm getting a quality plant that is going to perform well. If you're in the DMV area, visit; you'll enjoy it.

That's really unfortunate. Why would (most people) people shop at an independent when they can get a cheaper price at the big box? We need independents for the variety they offer and expertise of the staff; otherwise, we'll eventually end up an expansive country full of monoculture --- which is the last thing we need on the environmental front (well, maybe not the last, but dwindling biodiversity is pretty high up there in environmental concerns...)
