That tile is lovely but I’m confused. Is the first picture without grout yet? And the second picture is showing what?

look at grout the color of tile and then tweak one shade toward greige/khaki....if you want the pronounced pattern look. There is very scant probability that the design would ever become so less distinct that you wouldnt notice it.....I'd keep it subtle no matter what. the patterned tile will always be on display.

First get the "glue" out from between the tiles or it'll be blotchy. To test grout colors take a couple loose tiles and sprinkle different dry grout samples between them. That's how the grout will look once applied.

Was there a sample board at the tile store that you viewed/liked? Usually those are grouted and easily matched. Use the actual grout stick samples to make your selection and not just a color card.

I’m not a pro but gray grout would seem wrong here. There are beige-family grouts that would be better. But definitely do what @territheresa said to do before taking the plunge and doing a full grout job. TEST IT FIRST. I agree anything white will reduce the look of the tile design.

i use mapei grout : alabaster, white, or biscuit colors, just off hand, for this. bring in the sample bars for this and lay them right up .

If you bought the tile locally, take a couple back and ask them to dry fill them with some of your grout choices in front of you so you can know for certain. That way you won't have to invest in bag fulls of grouts you won't use. The tile place should be willing to do that for their customers.

I finally went with gold grout and it seems to be coming out nicely. The stone and grouts are wet and I am waiting for it to dry but I will definitely post the final pics here. Love how the kitchen is looking now :)
