I would get a proper shed roof, rather than that unattractive awning. Remove the brick. Remove the shutters. The windows are not right for them. Get rid of the grass that is hiding the entry and trim the overly large bush to the left. Install a walkway to the door.

I think it’s really important to set a budget, get quotes/ideas and have a plan. You mentioned removing garage door and wondered what you were considering instead. I would avoid just adding siding (even if you can match color).

You could add more light into basement with large windows, a garage door with windows, or french doors (would provide convenient access) and increase curb appeal.

Instead of an awning, consider a stained pergola to match deck and perhaps get quotes for just over front door, right across, or only over ”garage” area. What would work best visually as well.

I’d restain deck posts to match deck for consistency and you may find there will be a need to adjust walkway and landscaping in front. A plan/vision is important and also things can be done in stages as well.

What is your budget for changes? Are you interested in building a new 2-car garage?

Please add more current photos showing the full front of the houuse close up and from across the street, including mailbox area. The lower photo looks current. The upper two look like they were taken a few years ago before the deck was changed and the shrubs grew large.

keeping it as a living space, will never use as garage. Not overly concerned anout budget bc i do most of the work myself, so its mostly material cost.

IMO the garge door needs to be replaced with windows or that will always scream I was a garage in fact if at all possible no driveway at all only parking on the street .The shutters need to be removed along with the overgrwth on the left so you can actually see the entry and I agree that awning needs removeal and IMO we need better pics otf that area . It seems you have space on the right to have even a garge but until you remove the driveway and garge door this will always look like it does,

I was going to cut out the asphalt under the awning/roof and put a pebble 1/2 circle driveway. street parking isnt great

While you are waiting to close escrow, you can check local setbacks and driveway regulations, for example, for new cuts to the curb. Knowing those will give you a solid start for making new plans.
