will either of these layouts work in small kitchen with combine dining

Kitchen with eat-in dining is 10.5” x 16.5 ft with 3 entrances (from entryway hallway, family room and backyard). I cannot remove walls, but can move plumbing, unsure if I can move the gas line to the stove and soffits but all flooring is being replaced. Currently it is a small u-shape with peninsula and the dining area is behind the peninsula, there is no pantry (food is stored in 3 upper cabinets), little cooking prep space, very limited storage and dining area is very tight to move around (it is the only dining area in the house)
Family of 3, husband and I both cook though it is usually not at the same time. Limited to IKEA cabinets to stay on budget as we are doing some other minor renovations that need to be done at the same time. We’re looking to remove u-shape and instead have it as L with peninsula attached to other side of the wall in order to gain more cabinet space and prep area. I realize in both new layouts the dining is still very tight, and aisle widths are not ideal but I don’t see a better option. Here are the 2layouts proposed:

the ideal thing would be close the hall entry. come down the hall to family room...the family room/kitchen passage is wide and that is where traffic will come round from the hallway without any issue.....its not a big distance. You can load up the two walls of kitchen area then and get cabinets and fridge or any appliance out of dining zone. Avoid hurting resale value of home.... You could alternatively create a better U with 10 ft wall and shorter sides on the other two walls......it would be open to dining and lower zone of space.

Herbflavor— yes, I agree it would be a good solution, unfortunately I think if we did that then the hallway area and stairs becomes too dark. I’m not sure how to edit original post but here is main floor layout. We are in a townhouse, the only light we have is north facing from the living room and dinning.

Definitely not the second plan. Is there enough space to put the fridge on the FR wall, with a tall side-loading pantry? Of course, this plan would mean moving gas as well as plumbing, but range would be in a more protected spot, and traffic flow is better.

ETA, I didn't see the direction of the sliding door before posting, so that would need to be reversed to provide better traffic flow.

Mama goose— I considered that as well, I think only the fridge will fit ( it is 28” counterdepth , 32”wide) as it is now. However I could close 12 to 24” of the opening to the living room and that can get me the space to add small pantry attached to the fridge.I think this is a good idea the more I consider it, I don’t think moving gas line down will be a problem and we planned to move plumbing anyway.

Mama goose— yes, patio door is being changed so not an issue to change door opening

I would ditch the peninsula idea and put in a work/eating table. Is there a window where you have the stove? I would use layout one and switch the sink and stove. DW to the left of the sink.

Closing off the hallway entrance could work but again your kitchen is too narrow for any sort of island/peninsula.

Sherry— no window on that wall, though I did just realize our gas oven vents outside ( vents through soffit above). I can probabaly extend gas line across and venting down a bit on the wall its currently on ( same wall as in my original proposed layouts) but I’d have to see if it’s possible to change vent to new wall location.

i would really pursue closing the hall entrance. consider moving hall closet that way. then widen entrance from front door into living area. Hallways can have lighting plans and probably should if you fear it is too dark...[ due to single ceiling fixture??] the full use of 10 foot wall in kitchen is your ticket.
