Sinks are like crown mold, chandileirs, and decoulatage; nobody objects if they're big. Get the 36" please.

You won't scratch your sink if you get the grid. This Ferguson Quartz Luxe comes with a grid:

You'll pay a thousand bucks or so for either. Worth every penny.

Kohler Whitehaven 36” with grid.

It's hard to answer your question without knowing what else will be going in your kitchen. For example, if you have to choose between a 36" sink or a 36" cooktop, and one of those two must be smaller to accommodate the other, then that is important to know. Also, is it a single bowl or double bowl sink? If it's a double bowl sink then you have to get the 36" width. And you would need to get the grid if the sink material is enameled cast iron. But if you get a stainless steel apron front sink, then the grid is more personal choice - some people like a grid and some people don't. But enameled cast iron you must get the grid to protect the sink.

Definitely make sure a sink that large leaves room for everything else you will want on that run of cabinets. I had planned on getting one that big, but then I wouldn’t have room for a vertical sheet pan cupboard next to the dishwasher.

Also I am firmly on team ”no grid.” I am baffled how anyone could possibly like having one of those. It’s in our rental now where we’re living during the remodel, and it’s the scourge of my existence. I don’t know if some people just don’t use their garbage disposals as much? But strands of spaghetti and salad and everything else getting caught in the grates is gross to deal with. Plus underneath gets all gunky and stained rather quickly.

Thanks everyone for your comments! I want it to be a single bowl sink. Here is a picture of what the kitchen will look like. I’m open to other suggestions if you have any. Especially about what types of cabinets to have and where. The fridge will not be 42” like picture shows. It will be 36” counter depth.

I'm debating between a 33" and 36" as well but after reading @Joseph Corlett, LLC comment, I think I'll look up a 36" one with a 60/40 split!😁 I never really thought of sinks that way but "go big or go home" as they say!

@Milli Just make sure it works with your faucet. My friend has the split sink, and unfortunately, with the faucet centered, it doesn’t reach far enough on the side to wash a pasta pot easily without banging on the raised split part.
