I honestly have no idea what you are asking.IMO those hung cabinets should never have been reinstalled the close off thekitchen and are too dark

Are you referring to the overhang of the countertop or the end of the base cabinet? The overhang of the countertop would usually, if there's room, have some stools there for sitting at the counter. If you're concerned about the end of the base cabinets, I'd leave them as they are.

Like Patricia, I was wondering why you kept the hanging cabinets since most home owners want them gone. But maybe you're trying to recreate the '67 look?

Hello and thank you. Yes, the cabinets are dark, and will more than likely end up darker, and super high gloss. My hope is lighter countertops, a large picture window, fresh white walls, light reflecting off the high gloss, and updated/more lighting will help the space. It is adjacent to a large sunroom on one side, and formal dining area on the other, which are pretty much all large windows/glass doors.

My reason for keeping the uppers was for fear of losing storage space. It probably wasn't necessary, but too much rather than too little is preferable. It also gives my husband somewhere nearby to sit when I'm in the kitchen.

And annztoo, yes, you are correct. I'm not trying to un-60s the house, fully. With the direction reno's are going, we're modern and mcm. With a dash of art deco jazz and machine ages, depending on the room. Definitely outside of the box.

If I can better explain myself, the uppers will have an overhang, and probable waterfall, to better encapsulate a couple of stools.

In the added photo (without waterfalls pictured), where those bookshelves are, is the area in question. Surely, something more inventive can be accomplished there, but I lack that element of creative design.

At the end of the day, I could make the peninsula one, big bilevel waterfall, stick some dogs bowls in the void, and call it done.
