A dryer periscope will get the machine closer to the wall. Except,

Is that a gas dryer?

If so, check local codes to make sure a periscope is permissible. If allowed, make sure it is taped up good at all of the seams. With tape designed for dryer vents (high heat). NOT run of the mill duct tape.

Also, if that is a gas dryer, that plastic flex vent you are using is a big NO-NO.

Those sharp curves on the ducting is substantially reducing the airflow and performance of your dryer.

What do I do?

As close as possible without crimping the duct so you are too close those tight turns will impede the air flow and also why can you not move the vent hole down so it lines up with the back vent of the dryer. IMO the periscope does that same thing. Waht you want is theventing to run as staright as possible to make drying faster but to also not allow too much lint to be trapped in the venting

It's a bad design. The wall vent hole is too high-up on the wall vs. the location of the dryer's exhaust outlet. It is what it is, a common problem. Dryer exhaust routing typically is an after-thought. The periscope gizmo would be better than the flex duct. Or, have someone build a pedestal to raise up your dryer so the machine's outlet and the wall hole are aligned for a straight-shot connection.
