J Collection Kitchen Cabinets

I live in a garage apartment, probably built in the 1930s. It is on property (with a really nice ranch style home that was built around 1960); grandson owns the property which is wonderful-no taxes, no rent, no upkeep for me!!

The kitchen has built in-place plywood boxes for cabinets; lowers only. Strange dimensions of how cabinets were divided, i.e. not one is the same size as any other. Total of six usable drawers, all rather small, no dividers. Space is approximately 9 ft x 13 ft.

I am a 'cook from scratch' even for just myself. Been here just over two years; time has come to improve the kitchen and I had planned to do IKEA (which is what I did in the renovation of the previous kitchen). Of course, it is difficult to get IKEA 'complete' right now, thus the search for something 'similar'.

Two visits to two different Home Depot kitchen departments, neither of which could provide the cabinets I needed as 'replacements' (not moving any plumbing or electrical) at the budgeted amount. Adding a pantry also, (there was none).

This is a company that sells only thru Home Depot, priced a bit higher than IKEA (but cabinets are already assembled, thus saving on time/labor/headaches). Vanilla white or gray, (I got white), and also got Shaker style (I think there might have been one other option). We ordered two of what will be 4 or 5 more cabinets just to see the quality (there were not any on the floor at Home Depot).

The cabinets seem to quite comparable to IKEA components; drawers are full extension, but NOT soft close. Legs are much better than what IKEA offered previously. The real winning fact: we ordered July 21, both cabinets arrived earlier this week at Home Depot (we picked them up Wednesday). Less than four weeks from date ordered. No assembly required.

One cabinet is a 4 drawer, the other is the cook top cabinet, two 'visible' drawers, the top drawer has 'hidden' drawer (which possibly won't be usable with a drop in cook top. They offer a sink cabinet, and also a pantry cabinet. I am thrilled I can get this kitchen in a more 'friendly to user' status.

We will be ordering the remaining cabinets over the weekend. I could jump for joy except my 82 yr old bones would complain.
