Hi Houzzers

Looking for advice by anyone who has experience with wooden windows. I am very inspired by my favorite interior designer Lauren Liess. She sanded back all her doors, windows, architraves, and kick boards to their original wood and I'm in love with the raw natural look. They were originally stained a darker color.

We have just moved into a country farm cottage that's pretty rustic due to it's history / age and needs a facelift. All the doors and windows are wood however over the years they have been painted white.

I would loveeeee to sand them back to their original wood (inside only - we will keep them painted on the outside) but I have zero experience with this. It seems everything I find online is how to prepare windows to be painted but that's exactly what I don't want to do. I am after a raw natural look so I don't mind if it's not perfect, in fact I prefer that it's not!

I'm also not sure how I safely sand inside the house.

Last note - this is a project we're looking to DIY without removing any windows or panes in the process.

Has anyone done this before? What tools do we need? How long will it take? Is this even possible? Any pointers / tips would be greatly appreciated!
