I wouldn't paint it, I would put boldly colored lamps/accessories on it to pull in the colors you want to accentuate.

Thanks. The seller said it's very beat up and will need to be painted or refinished. I don't have anyone to refinish it.

Maybe this is not the chest you want. It will be pretty crowded into that area.

If you think the chest will be crowded, paint it the same color as your foyer. It will blend into the space, And you can use just one lamp and not a pair. Or paint it the blue you want; it's your house.
