I'm a visual learner so I tend to use a lot of Youtube videos. GardenAnswer has a great video on seed saving. For perennials, I usually search for the specific one I want to divide for the best method.

My one piece of advice when dividing perennials is to give some "special" attention to the replanted portions for a while. It's hot this time of year. They need special treatment, water, maybe some shading for a few days until they start to get established.

Not entirely correct. There is a subset of perennials that are best divided in late summer (even if hot), as they won't establish well in time for winter if you wait until fall. Bearded iris, daylilies, lungwort and Crocosmia fall into this category in my region of zone 5. Not to mention things like Bleeding Heart that go fully dormant in mid-to-late summer, and can be divided any time after that..
