I would paint that door and its trim the same color you pick for the siding. You might want to nail a piece of plywood cut to size and painted the same color as the siding so that the dark holes of the garage space are not seen. Paint the storm door and its trim the same color as the door.

Is there a door inside the garage that goes into the house? My parents had that on their gambrel although the front door was on the other end of the "porch". It is a covered way to get from the garage to the house.

@jck910 yep, there is another door inside the garage that goes into the house. It would make more sense to me if our front door was located in the opposite direction, like at your parents house. But with so close to the front door it's like, why are you here? Haha

@houssaon we plan to remove the storm door all together. I was thinking of painting the garage entry door and it's trim the color of the house but thought okay is there any way to enhance this feature esthetically (but not functionally) before I give it up? Your idea is definitely on our minds. Thank you for commenting!

will the garage door fit in the front door frame? I think it's really cool -- the three squares are very mid century. if you can, swap the two doors, and get rid of the security door. it's not very nice looking.... and it appears to not serve a purpose (since the windows don't have bars)?

if you swap the two, I think you have two options:

1. make both doors matching color (I like that coral you have now).

2. or like houssaon suggested: paint the garage door and the frame the same color as the siding to get it to kind of disappear. if you don't like it, it would be really easy to paint again.

I would not ‘enhance it’ or ’make it interesting’ at all. Why would you? You don’t use it and your guests don’t use it and you’re thinking of doing away with it.

Paint it so it disappears into the siding.
