Perhaps Oenothera? Something close to O. pallida or O. flava?

I think that the photo shows opposite foliage, so that would rule out Oenothera… i was thinking something more scrophulous, maybe a very lobed Penstemon richardsonii? I’ve never seen one that lobes tho…

Penstemon richardsonii likes to grow in cliff crevasses, and likes rocky, dry soil. Does the area where you found it dry out? The lobes on your specimen aren't much out of the ordinary. I don't know much about all the western species that I never encounter.

It does get dry on that particular section. I suppose that will have to be our best guess until i can go there in April.
