They are great skylights. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and you'll have no problems.

@Sumod - I was not talking about a "tube". I have a Velux fixed skylight. There have been no condensation issues.

Ah, my mistake, @M Miller. I have been going back and forth between suntunnels and skylights and thanks for your response. That prompts a related question: how long have you had your skylights? Have you had any issues? Not sure if I should post this as a separate starter question to get a wider response.

If there are issues, from my experience they are related to installation. The sun tunnels are a much easier than the skylights but not for amateurs. Hire a GC or a roofing guy to put it in. You will not regret it. Also, lean on them for the ordering process. Do not do it alone. Roofs are tricky and not for the faint of heart.

I’ve had a Velux opening skylight for 25 years. There has never been a problem! It’s a great skylight!

The Velux unit is a well engineered and when installed correctly, virtually bulletproof application.

I just had a 3 Year old Velux skylight that started leaking. I called the roofing contractor back and he checked all the flashing and resealed everything to the roof and it was still leaking. Turns out it was a defect in the seal of the glass. Since it's the rainy season in Florida, I had to have it replaced immediimmediately . Since I did not wait for Velux representative to come out and assess the situation, the warranty is worthless. Generally, they are very good products, but the warranty is basically worthless with all their stipulations.
