We are in the process of renovating our house. The family room will look modern with a linear fireplace, but I need to figure out how to make the fireplace in the front more modern. Should I paint the mantel black and go with lighter tile surround? Or is there something else I haven't thought of to modernize this fireplace. We are also repainting the walls white and repainting our staircase and front door a black color.
