When working with whites I think simple is always better so all the walls in matte finish and all the trim same color but semi gloss

This is one of the room we started painting simply white

And I usually do trim and wall same color white but I don’t want it to look off with my floors

My floors are different colors of off white and I want all my trim to match but some walls are Oxford some are simply

I was going to do matte but The people at the store recommended eggshell for the walls because of kids and said the matte in regal eggshell is better for clean-ability even though their matte is wipeable bit long term they said eggshell was better It doesn’t look shiny which I’m happy with 🥰

I would pick the trim color based on what works best with your floors. I would be mostly concerned with how Simply White - a warmer white with yellow undertones - would look next to the floors. This is really impossible to judge in photos, IMHO.

Keep in mind that tiny differences in white tones are not going to show up as you expect once everything is painted, furnishings are brought in, window treatments hung. The different planes (walls, ceilings, floor), light exposures (near a window, away from a window), shadows, trim profiles, exposure, etc. end up creating a whole bunch of different white tones that, I think, generally end up working together - unless you chose VERY different whites.

In my house, I chose Oxford White for all my ceilings and trimwork because it is a neutral, barely soft white. I also painted our front guest room the same color. It has a window that faces west with a woodland conifer garden directly outside. The light bouncing off all the foliage gives it a green cast at certain times of day but then it goes very golden in the evening. Oxford White looks very different on the ceiling of our primary bedroom which faces east with a patio outside.

So, in your shoes, I would pick the trim color that looks best with the floors, carry it throughout, and use various whites or other complimentary colors for the walls.

Thank you so very much my floors have like 3 different off whites in them my dining room and living room face East and my family room and kitchen face west I tried chantilly lace at 1st but it was too bright and I like Oxford but wanted just a tad more warmth in certain rooms I notice Oxford actually has a a little warmth so I was thinking it would play nice with simply white ♥️ because that was my fear if I did simply white on the trims it would be two yellow next to the floors

I think the simply is fine. use a semi gloss in simply for the trim.

I did it w/my room. (I tried White Dove first, but it was too dingy).

Eggshell Simply on walls, Semi gloss Simply on the baseboards/crown

(the kitchen cabs were supposed to be Simply as well, but I think they went one shade brighter. when you look at them together, you can't even see any variation)

If you already have Oxford on hand, YOu could certainly use it for the trim. I think all Simpy, or Simply/oxford will look fine.

Here’s another pick of my floor tile that’s in the foyer sticker on tile is Oxford white wall is not finished but it has one coat of simply white on it I was wondering if it looks too yellow but if I do Oxford for the trim you think it will be ok and have a nice contrast

My monitor says it looks fine. Definitely avoid flat paint for walls. They’re so much harder to clean than eggshell.

I like to see the chromas to be .20 difference between the wall and trim. Oxford white is .35 chroma and Simply White is .50. The difference is only .15. I wouldn’t pair these two whites together. I would paint Oxford White for your trim and try sw Alabaster .66 for walls.

it's only paint. if you don't like the one, then paint over it w/the other. really not a big deal between the two

My contractor is coming back Monday so I needed to make a decision and whites are so complicated and I’ve heard horror stories of one white making the other dingy that’s why I usually go with trim same as wall but I like my whites to have some warmth both the colors do♥️ I just wanted to make sure they would work together..I don’t want to waste anymore money because paint is expensive

get some samples. paint some large swaths yourself. see how it looks when it's dry.

Ok that’s probably what I need to do I need bigger samples because the little stick on ones were ok but I need more if a visual thank you so much ♥️♥️
